Hello, it’s ChrisX and welcome to another part of SRW Season.
Before, I talked about the strength and weakness of normal Super Robot Wars and Original Generations Super Robot Wars. I also mentioned that each Super Robot Wars games will have original characters, a lot of them would get included into the Original Generation games. These are what would be called the Banpresto Originals.
They may not have the extensive history like other licensed show heroes, but these characters tend to be really quirky and likable on their own. These are mostly helped with their own design, personality, the mech they use and a lot of times, their own music. I’ve grown to love a lot of these characters, that a lot of times they become my lynchpin of playing even the normal Super Robot Wars games, and when it comes to those who has gotten into Original Generation games… boy did I have a lot of difficulties on choosing who to pick!
And so that’s why I will now count down the 10 Banpresto Originals that I liked the most. I don’t think the usual rule applies, because this is just within one video game series. So let’s just get straight into the list itself. This is ChrisX’s Top 10 Banpresto Original Characters within Super Robot Wars!
Hello, this is ChrisX. And gee it has been awhile and… Hmm? What is this?
Super Robot Wars? Now that’s a series I haven’t been around with. I don’t know, maybe the lineups didn’t interest me or something, or finally the abundance of Japanese overwhelmed the hell out of me. The last SRW I played was Super Robot Wars K. However, I had really fun times with these series. It introduced me to many wonderful mecha anime (Original Generation series is another story, and I LOVE them). Gameplay is simple strategy game, but you’re probably not in for that. You’re in for your favorite robot beating or blasting the shit out of your enemies, re-enacting some famous anime scenes, and hopefully fix some of them for a better end… Long story short, it’s a massive crossover that’s done right and awesome.
Lately, they have been making translation for the English language. Two games have been released, V and X, but it wasn’t enough to get me funked. This one, though? I’m funked as hell. You wanna know why? Well, I guess I’ll tell you as I ‘react’ to the images of the trailer and tell you what I think about what gets in there… You’ll see why I’m… well… trying to hold my excitement right here.
I knew it well, readers, a game of infinite epic, of most excellent experience… It hath borne me on many epic gaming and story hours; and now how abhorred in my imagination it is! My gorge rims at it.
Here hung those epic, meaningful heroes that have been admired I know not how intense. Where be your great union now? Your peace-loving sorceress? Your anti-heroic undead mistress? Your image of a honorable Orcs and Horde, that were wont to set the common fantasy audience in awe? Not one now, to praise on your characterization and lore? The images have fallen. Now get you to Blizzard’s chamber, and tell them, let it be known that their new image of Warcraft is no longer one that I admired, and they can just hump on their new fans that just want to kill off one section; I want no part of it…
Hello everyone, it’s ChrisX again and welcome to a section I’d call Editorial. In this section… well, let’s say that I just take a look at a certain event within the gaming world, and give my comments about it. Perhaps it would involve some speculation or things like that. This is not meant to be a fact, let’s just say it’s just some of my opinions, thought this one probably might not be too unpopular. Unlike my other kind of post…
So let’s start this section with…
Wow, that was a bleak title for one of my favorite franchises.
But it couldn’t be denied. As we entered the last stages of Playstation 3, the super fun, adrenaline-rushing Sengoku stylish action game Sengoku Basara series… is facing the dangers of getting killed.
Hello, everyone. It’s ChrisX. And… well, this is not a normal blog post. I’m not even sure how to even call it. It’s not a Character Focus. But this feels more like… a confession. Not a confession of how much I like the character, but more like… a confession about my journey of liking a character.
And how much of a rollercoaster of liking, hoping and despairing that came along with it and how much I did something that made me a target of ridicule and bullying, if you can even call it such, or bottom line… “Someone very annoying.”
So you can consider it like me coming out of my closet and revealing a lot of my dirty secrets. It involves this character from the BlazBlue series.
Yes, you may have noticed that I put Litchi Faye-Ling into my Top 10 VG Combat Staff experts. To this day, I still think she’s the best one. But that’s not our focus, nor how I think she’s still the best BlazBlue female character and why she’s more than just the fanservice machine she’s known for.
This is not going to be pretty. Are you ready? Click on to know more…
So let me get this straight. I’ve been a fan of the Arc System Works games, I like the Persona series, I have a soft spot on Under Night In-Birth… and NOW you’re saying that ASW decided to go balls deep and cross them over in a tag battle, while still hot on heels with Dragon Ball Fighter Z!?
This is actually not that high compared to the last number. Which may be a little ironic considering who’s in last time, but we’ll see if we can boop through this. And don’t worry, special precautions have been made so this does not get h– let’s just get this over with.
Well, I gotta start from someone at first at the bottom. So… (sigh) it looks like the one at the bottom apparently is everybody’s favorite super cheery Brit girl, Lena Oxton AKA Tracer. I can definitely see those who’d jeer on me for liking everybody’s favorite poster girl, but… I am prepared.
