This is really really unexpected. I thought I would’ve dismissed Junkrat, but I ended up immensely enjoying him, starting from his explosions and the sheer amount of fun he displays.
Hello everybody and welcome back to ChrisX’s… Top 20 Video Game Ice Masters. Well I don’t think I have much other to say than what I said for early parts in the beginning, so let’s jump right into the cream of the crop when it comes to cryokinesis in video games.
Hello everybody and happy holidays! Merry Christmas! And Happy Birthday to ME! Yes, so for this one occasion, here’s a special treat for you. It’s a winter season, where there’s lots of snows and ice.
In video games… I like ice. It’s my favorite element. There’s just something cool about those cold blocks of ice usually formed into one big, sharp needle getting thrown to the enemy. Or occasionally, encasing them in a big block of ice, immobilizing them so you can either leave them or do whatever to them while they’re being helpless. It also helps that those who wield the ice tends to be the coolest character. No, I’m not being punny here. Kind of. Those who wield the ice elements usually has this one trait shared with the element itself: Coldness. They tend to have calm and cool composure, enabling them to plan where and how they would apply the form of ice and cold to their foes. For the most part, they tend to be very smart as well. Of course, not every ice users are like that, even those in this list, but you get the idea.
And because ice is my favorite element, and it’s nearing a special day to me, that is, the day I get closer to my lifespan limit and time where the cold hand of death claims me… I mean, my birthday… I want to make this one special. That is, rather than going for 10 characters like usual, I’m doubling the size and make it 20 characters. Yes, I have that much spare characters that I like best when using ice.
Same rules apply, only games I’ve played and one character per franchise. Now, just stay frosty… and get to the list. (… And see how many ice puns I ended up committing.)
Hello everybody and welcome back to yet another and probably final Weapons on a Stick session. So when you take a hammer and tried to make a version that replaces the blunt weight side with a thinner, bladed steel… well you get the axe. Well the more ‘proper’ version of this would be ‘Poleaxes’ but… I’m not sure if I can find a lot of specific poleaxe experts, there’s only a few. So… I think we’ll stick with Axes. It’s still on a stick after all, only the blade at the end of the stick is made of steel.
When it comes to axes, perhaps one thing it symbolizes the most is strength. Brute strength, in fact. I think you guys can forget about graces when dealing with axes, because it’s pure on concentrated power. Of course, it was created at first to chop woods or trees and to make use of it, great strength is needed, not some stylistic precision (though it does help!) As such, when it comes to video games and battles, a brutish character might come along with axe as further displays of their strength. I understand there are other cases that axe users didn’t look as brutish as most, but still, that’s the most common interpretation of those with axes. Or maybe they’re not brutes… they’re just crazy. But either way, it shows that those who wield the axe usually gives the vibes of menace or an overbearing aura.
With a lot of its brute connotations, a lot of times an axe appears in video games, specifically RPG’s… they’d belong to either brutish monsters or bandits. But there’s a lot more renowned axe experts that stands above these kind of people in their ways to use the axes. And therefore, let’s count down the Top 10 Video Game Axe Experts. As usual, the same rule apply, only from games I have played and only on per franchise.
All right then, it’s time to get into the chopping block. The countdown begins!
Hello everybody and welcome back to another Countdown Post of mine, continuing with the Weapons on a Stick theme. Now, shall we say that if we switch the blade on that stick into a GIANT mass of weight… What do we get? Hammers, that’s what.
In the beginning, hammers were invented to construct structures. Mostly by pounding nails to woods or nails or anything. At times, people also use it to construct weapons, that’s what blacksmiths do. It just happens that the bigger the hammer becomes, the more destructive it becomes, sometimes even becoming a reverse of its original purpose, a bludgeon weapon to either demolish structures, or just bash someone’s skull, either breaking them, or knocking them away for a very long distance. It’s also a popular weapon for clerics who abhor steel sharp weapons… and it’s also a popular weapon for anime girls who tends to get annoyed with their male friends.
But we’re not gonna talk about anime.
The hammers tend to be a powerful weapon, slow at swing, but packs a massive weight in each blows. And so, within this list, 10 Experts of Hammers in video game history shall be listed and we will see who stands in the top to put the mightiest hammer down there is. As usual, the two main rules apply: Only one character per franchise, and only from the games I played. And only from things originating from video games. I swear to God, if anime-origin characters can be put in this list, I would’ve happily put in the GaoGaiGar in, due to the massive Goldion Hammer or Goldion Crusher, and it was showcased in Super Robot Wars! But alas, rules are rules.
So let’s not wait any longer. It’s hammer ti– Wait, no, I don’t say that. I’ll reveal why later. Onward to the countdown then!
(Pre-word: I meant no offense if I make mention of someone else’s tastes and comparing it. I’m not saying my opinion’s better, it’s just different. With that being said, let’s continue)
Hello everybody and welcome back into another session of Weapon on A Stick. Last time we have dealt with the stick itself, Combat Staff… Now if you add a pointy blade on the end of it, the result would be the spear and its subset. Halberds, naginata, pikes. The Spear combines the long reach of a staff and the piercing power of a blade, and sometimes also its slashing power, making it a bit safer to use, and also simpler to use in various modes, just keep your distance and keep swinging or stabbing. It’s also a popular weapon to use on horseback due to its reach. Many medieval cavalries have used the spear or its subsets as their go-to weapon for melee cavalry combat.
So, here I am, listing down the 10 Video Game experts of spear that is entrenched in my mind, they can swing, stab and slash no matter where they are. But first and foremost! I have to mention this: Spear is so widely used in video games that sometimes, its sub families are considered spears itself. This is why for this countdown, I will bypass that one difference, if it’s a subset of a spear, like naginata, it’s eligible for this. Aside of that, only from the games I played… well maybe that has just one subversion (you’ll see it soon enough), but it still applies. Also only one per franchise, that goes naturally.
Welp I don’t think I have more to say for intros. Let’s cut through this countdown at once!
Hello everybody and welcome back to your daily dose of video game countdowns. Now that Halloween is over, I’d say we can get into more normal weaponries, or this time, because I can’t get enough of themes… let’s try to come up with another silly theme for it. Let’s see… I know! How about Countdowns about Weapons… ON A STICK!
(I’m gonna have to cheat later by the way, I don’t think there’s enough poleaxe users)
We will start with the root of it. The stick itself. Sometimes, a weapon can look and appear simple, but it gets results and sometimes it’s kind of all you need. Enter the Combat Staff. Or Bo Staff.
Long in reach, and of the blunt type, the Combat Staff is a pretty popular weapons for those who are pacifistic in nature, but requires a weapon. Monks or Kung-Fu fighting characters tend to use that. But regardless, it remains a popular staple amongst video games, what they lack in steel and cutting capability, they make it up for their long range. The combat staff also exemplifies versatility, it has various uses that will depend on its user’s mind and cunning on how much of it can unleash its potential.
So! That being said, it’s time I count down 10 video game characters that has been known for the usage of this simple yet deadly weapon. Aside of the usual rule of ‘only from games I have played’, I’ll have to mention one thing. In order to qualify, the characters must be using the staff mainly to smack around their enemies up close physically. Staves have been also a popular choice as a conduit of magic. However, they’d be magic casters, NOT combat staff experts. We’re looking for more… physical things. I would excuse it if the staff is a variant like Sansetsukon or the Three-sectioned staff, but it has to be a long staff that is ideally wielded with two hands like a quarterstaff. Baton-staves will not count.
All right, all things said and done, it’s time to dig in to the best combat staff users in video game! Let the countdown begin!
Needs to get a DSL. His line is always — Hold a sec, I’m not a Blizzard character who has been poked too many times, am I?
Welcome ladies and gentlemen to yet another series of countdown before Halloween closes in. So speaking of Halloween, I know that there is some sort of tradition to dress up as menacing being or monsters. Ghosts, Vampires, Werewolves, Pumpkin Heads… Those are the common creatures of darkness that lurk in both folk tales and often used in video games for us good guys to beat. So consensus is, these creatures associated with darkness is always evil, right?
Sometimes, a character looks that menacing, utilizing the power of Darkness, or can make you think ‘He’s dark related. He must be suspicious as hell.’, and you won’t be always wrong, because the power of darkness corrupts. Well not these characters, these characters utilize the power of darkness, or just evil powers overall, or just overall look menacing or terrifying, but they’re not that evil at heart. They can be perfectly good guys, or they can be just overall tragic character… that needs a hug. After all, always remember that power is just a tool, at the hands of good men, even the evilest power can be the greatest force of good… and at the hands of evil men, even the most righteous power can be the greatest force of evil.
And now, I am going to list up 10 characters in video games that to me live up to these archetypes the most, the characters who looks evil or having evil or dark powers… but turns out to be not that bad or even heroic… so the next time someone approached you for trick or treat in this Halloween, you don’t get the wrong idea. Remember, they’re just innocent kids beneath the costume! … Uh, yeah we hope. Same rules apply, just from video games I have played.
Just be careful that there are spoilers galore. Well that’s enough talk… HAVE AT YOU!
As another part of my Halloween treats, here’s another list about an archetype that is tightly related with one of those things in Halloween AND video games overall.
Witchcraft. Sorcery. What does witches and sorcerers use? Magic and Spells.
And we got plenty of them in video games. As we all know of, magic is a fascinating concept which when learned, allows various supernatural feats to be done by manipulating the fabric of nature itself. This is most commonly shown with the manipulation of the forces of nature, such as fire, lightning, earth and many more. In video games, this tends to be the tool of smart people who might not be that fit physically, but their intelligence and knowledge enable them to dabble with the intricacies of magic spells and lay down great destruction just as good or even better than their physical compatriots.
This list will consist of the characters that I think has the greatest potential when it comes to spell-casting and having enough varieties when it comes to magic and the destruction they bring. They’re not always limited to offense magic, sometimes healing magic counts… but we’re looking for more offensive magic. And magic has got to be their main forte, it should be their magic that is feared, not their physical forte. And also, maybe it’s just me, but I like varieties a lot better… so for those who are in this list, it’s all expressed with how variative they can be, not just how destructive their magic is.
And as usual, only from games I have played.
Okay, that’s enough talk. Click on the ‘Read More’ link below to see the list, and if you like it… like & drop a comment. The magic… begins here.
It’s not usual for me to celebrate, Halloween… but I’d like to make something special for that day, it’s not today, but hell, everyone’s making preparations. So I guess… early Halloween present? Hm… let’s see… the undeads, monsters… what else can I make… Oh, right! The Scythe!
Welcome, folks, to ChrisX’s Top 10 Video Game Scythe Experts
Why scythe, though? I mean, originally it was made to just cut grass. But thanks to the wonders of fictions, stories everywhere attaching the tool to the image of the angel of death, the Grim Reaper, it has turned into a wicked cool awesome weapon that instills fear to whoever faces those wielding these weapons. And because Grim Reapers is some… seriously creepy and spooky creature, I guess why not, it’ll do for Halloween.
Basic rules apply here: Only one character per franchise and only from the games I have played and… those that debuts in a video game. So… just excuse me if a character you like didn’t make it to the list, but let me know anyway via comments! Oh and also, I only count actual scythes. Not smaller ones like kama or kusarigama. At any rate, click on to read the list. If you like this list, take your time to also tell your favorite VG scythe users. It’s good to share.
